Wyke Farm Bio Gas Plant
A beacon of sustainable farming and winner of a Guardian Sustainable Business Award, Wyke Farms uses its Biogas Plant and solar panels to generate enough energy to make them completely self-sufficient. Wyke’s Green Energy centre was created for groups, such as schools and businesses, to learn more about sustainability and so they turned to Gartell & Son to help them build this state-of-the-art facility.
Operations Manager for Wyke Farms, Jason Fewell comments: “We are very proud of our green credentials. Located near our farm in the heart of Somerset, the Sustainable Energy Visitor Centre tells the story of our green journey and is dedicated to helping others learn about sustainability.
It’s open to local groups, such as schools and Young Farmers’ Clubs, as well as other manufacturers and farm-based businesses.
“Gartell is based not far from Wyke Farms, so I had heard about the company and knew they had an excellent reputation. We have been working together for about five years now and have found the process to be really positive.
“We prefer to use local family firms whenever possible, as it sits perfectly with our ideals as a family run business. We have always found Gartell & Son to be professional, helpful and their team benefits from an immense knowledge and experience that have helped to ensure a smooth project throughout. They did a wonderful job with Phase 1 and 2 of our Sustainability Centre. We would, and indeed do, recommend Gartell & Son to others and look forward to working with them again in the future.”
